Kheema Biryani


  • Kheema (minced meat)- 250 gms
  • Cinnamon stick- 2 inch
  • Cardamom- 3 pieces
  • Clove- 3 pieces
  • Onion- 2 sliced
  • Tomato- 3, finely chopped
  • Oil- 2 tbsp
  • Rice- 1 1/2 cups
  • Chilli powder- 2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder- 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves- a handful
  • Mint leaves- a handful
  • Coriander powder- 2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • Water- 3 cups
  • Salt- to taste
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Cashews- 8-10 pieces


  • Wash and marinate the minced meat with 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste, salt, and turmeric powder. Let it cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • In a pressure cooker, heat the oil, add cinnamon stick, cardamom and cloves, and onion. Fry the onion until golden brown.
  • Then add the tomatoes and sauté on medium flame until well cooked.
  • Add the minced meat and a portion of the coriander and mint leaves. Then add ghee and cashews. Sauté for a while.
  • Add chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, and the remaining turmeric powder.
  • Add water and once it comes to a boil, add the rice and close the lid.
  • Let it cook on medium to high flame for 3 whistles.
  • Garnish with fried cashews, fried onion, coriander and mint leaves. Serve hot.
